Pelikan Agency was found in 1991 By Feruz Mataj. From 1991 till 1994 the company was found as a state-owned agency operating as a Distribution of Humanitarian Aid to Albania from Italy and other European Countries under operation “Pelicano”.

Pelikan by its name of the bird, symbolize a careful, safe and smoothly transport, as the Pelikan transports food with beak for its birds. Pelikan Ltd was established on March 22, 1995, with scope of activities Logistics Services, forwarding, Shipping Agencies, Domestic and International Transport, warehousing, customs assistance etc. Since then, the company has been aiming at providing a complete service of full logistic chain with the highest possible quality for various import and export activities for its customers.

In 1997 ‘Pelican launched the procedures for the opening of Customs warehouses, thus opening the opportunity for a new development, for the first time in our country. Pelikan introduced another new service to the logistic facilities of our country, the transport of containerized cargo. It has started to serve occasional clients since 1996 and in 2000 it started a regular service from South Spain to Durres.

Since 2005 Pelikan has been a certified member of the world’s largest trade / logistics networks such as FIATA – WCA – WPA – PCN – ITJ – CCIDR – Global Shipping Market – WtLeads.

In 2006, Pelikan invited and introduced to Albania a global service of container Line. Pelikan became the first company to present exclusively the international maritime line CMA – CGM SAS, the world’s third largest line, adding Durres Port, for the first time, in the global map of international container destinations.

From the beginning Pelikan is the main shipping and forwarding agent of Durres Port (Main port of Albania) and has been a reference point for all foreign investors performing activities in our country, by assisting their import of machineries, investments project cargoes etc. It has been part of realizing and implementation of Chinese industry in Albania like cement factories, mines, Hec and other, by assisting, discharging, transporting to the sites of different projects.

Pelikan, a part of its several experienced staff, count in its assets and investments like more than 300 trucks, trailers, flat rack, tipper, heavy duty, taut liners, and reefers. All specialized machineries for minerals and container handling like front loaders, mini front loaders, forklifts, reach stackers, specialized machines etc.

From 2008 onwards, Pelikan, has built the biggest dry terminal outside of Durres Port, specialized mainly for chrome ore minerals.Via this terminal of 100.000 square meters, Pelikan control most of chrome ore exports of Albania.

Our terminal is placed in a very good strategic position, only 5 km away from Durres Port and 1.2 km from the Tirane-Durres Highway processing and export of Albanian chrome.

In 2016, Pelikan controlled about 70% of chromium ore exports, an indicator of the role of our management and quality that our company has in this field. At least the same figures are expected for 2017.

Taking in consideration our experience in connection with the main actors of chrome industry of our country, our role as garantor between miners and international buyers, our good name as independent forwarders in the country, we feel and have the consciousness to be part of chrome industry, by bringing our contribution to a new professional level.

Today the company Head Quartered in Durres employs more than 130 People. Currently the Agency is ranked “Top Logistics” provider in Albania and also in the Balkan region. Pelikan is Number 1 in Albania for container logistics operations with its dry port, Container terminal. Lately, our company has won a bid to develop an area of 100 hectares provided by our government as a free zone . This will be the 1 st free zone in Albania, so with our long experience, solid financial /professional capacities and very strong relations with national and international business, companies, network etc, will develop and give many opportunities to all parties to fulfill necessities and grow activities.
